J.P. Licks - Is cucumber a flavor?

When I can't get to Christina's, J.P. Licks will have to do. With hot muggy weather returning, we headed there for ice cream after dinner at Baraka Cafe.

I was excited to see more interesting cleaner flavors at J.P. Licks for a change. I had to try the fresh peach and fresh cucumber flavors. Yes cucumber! And I actually liked it. You can taste the cucumber but it's blended in nicely with the cream and sugar. Subtle and it definitely hit the spot.

Here's my cucumber and peach cup. Are you craving ice cream yet?

Definitely a Boston ice cream staple. Afterall you know us New Englanders consume more ice cream per capita than any other region!

While in line last night at the JP Licks on Newbury, I stared down that Cucumber line on the board for 10 minutes. I wanted to, but I couldn't risk my one ice cream for the week being sub par. I went cake batter instead (can't miss).

You have inspired me. Cucumbers for me next time. Whatever that means.

Hi Andrew- Cake batter (with a topping of strawberries) is one of my favorites too so I know what you mean by straying from the usual.

I was in the mood for something less sweet last night though so that hit the spot! It was creamy so still like ice cream not sorbet but not so heavy that I wanted to finish it all.

The peach was good too but it had a strange flavor...not really fresh peach, a little artificial, I can't put my finger on it.

That actually doesn't sound too bad. I will def. give it a try next time i'm on Newbury

Isn't if funny how NE people looove ice cream despite our frigid climate? My boyfriend prefers Herrell's in Harvard Square over JP Licks. Especially the Twinkie flavour!

Jenny> Hey I've actually tried the twinkie flavor! I love the little bits of twinkie cake in it.

While I was out today, I passed a J.P. Licks and remembered your mentioning cucumber ice cream. I had to try it. It was delicious. It definitely tasted like cucumber, but it worked really well and was perfectly refreshing on a hot day like today!

Thanks for the recommendation!
