Ken's Ramen Review - Super 88 - Allston

Ken's Ramen is an authentic ramen noodle shop, tucked away at the corner of the Super 88 market in Allston. The restaurant is simply decorated with seats at the bar. Just like in Tokyo!

Ken's is great for a satisfying meal of authentic Japanese noodles. I usually get the Miso Ramen while P gets the Soy Sauce Ramen. The broth is what makes Ken's Ramen stand out. It's thick, rich, and full of porky goodness. I wonder how long it takes to make the broth? I also like the added texture of the beansprouts and corn. If you want a lighter broth, the soy sauce ramen is for you.

Chomp Meter:
Boston's best ramen place! It's definitely worth a try or two or three. My only gripe is that the noodles are a little expensive at $7.80 for the miso ramen.

Banh Mi from Pho Viet

Help! My car is falling apart. I had to take it for servicing in Allston so naturally I stopped by the Super 88 Food Court for lunch. Feeling rather poor from being "robbed" at the dealership, I wanted something cheap. I ended up with the Banh Mi from Pho Viet. This is a great yummy lunch choice and is only $3.25. Seriously, where else can you get lunch for $3?

Banh Mi is really a sandwich. It came about during the French colonialism period in Vietnam, and combines French and Vietnamese ingredients. The sandwich from Pho Viet is served on a french baguette and is filled with hot peppers (yum! but be careful it is really spicy!) cucumbers, pickled carrots and daikon, cilantro, mayo, and a meat of your choice. I got the grilled pork. They also have chicken, tofu, & beef.

Here's my sandwich, it was soooo good. Unfortunately, I couldn't resist getting an iced green tea from Lollicup which at $4 totally negated my efforts to save money. Arghk :(

Best Banh Mi's in Boston! The rest of the food is pretty decent too. There's a curry beef noodle pho that I like (it's very greasy though). They also serve the usual Vietnamese dishes.
